Hello, I’m Holland Stephens, an interior designer based in Seattle, Washington. This journal is primarily dedicated to interiors, but it’s also a space where I share insights from the other creative arts. Whether it’s a fascinating story about an architectural marvel, the intricate process of making mohair fabric, or holiday design tips, this is where I delve deeper into the inspirations I’ve encountered along my journey.
Personally I’ve discovered that my work thrives when I am looking for a complex balance of opposites. Combining old with new, smooth with textured, shadow with light etc. This fusion, or alchemy, of different genres, styles, textures, and forms is about more than just combining elements—it’s about how they interact and enhance each other. It’s a design alchemy that involves blending diverse and sometimes contrasting components to create something greater than the sum of its parts. It’s about transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Thus the title of my journal “Alchemy in Design”.
My goal is to showcase interiors, architecture, art, and more that can serve as inspiration and ingredients for your own interior alchemy.
Best to you,
Holland
